Kodak i2000 series, i5200 & i5600 Now Available in Minnesota and Iowa

Rochester, NY, March 14—Office collaboration, productivity and efficiency increase when users have easy-to-use, accurate and fast document information capture capability built into workflows. Designed for finance, insurance, healthcare, government and general office applications, the Kodak i2000 Series Scanners transform changing paper-based information into readily accessible digital information at the desktop—all at the touch of a button and all backed by a 3-year worry-free warranty to help end users streamline costs and enhance asset management strategies
"Kodak continues pushing the envelope to enable document-intensive organizations to achieve more at the point of capture—automatically with intelligent features for pre-defining scanning into Web email clients and Microsoft SharePoint Servers, and image enhancement—empowering them to invigorate workflows to easily process and use information, improving customer service and facilitating business growth," said Tony Barbeau, General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "Desktop, distributed scanning is the fastest growing segment in our industry, offering significant productivity gains for users. Customer research shows end users are adopting broader client/server architectures, which places further emphasis for desktop scanners to provide efficient and intelligent image processing. The i2000 Series Scanners deliver on this need in an easy-to-use package that provides quick return on investment."
The i2000 Series Scanners are available in three models—all duplex—which provide performance levels to meet the information capture needs of small, medium and large businesses:
  • The Kodak i2400 Scanner features speeds up to 30 ppm with a recommended daily volume of 2,000 scans
  • The Kodak i2600 Scanner delivers up to 50 ppm with a recommended daily volume of 4,000 scans
  • The Kodak i2800 Scanner features speeds up to 70 ppm with a recommended daily volume of 6,000 scans
The i2000 Series Scanners include Kodak's Perfect Page Image Processing Technology that automates image enhancement, providing high image quality and consistent scans, while eliminating time consuming pre-scan document sorting—all enhancing productivity. The latest version of Perfect Page provides capabilities such as image sharpening, streak filtering and image hole fill, resulting in high fidelity images.
All Kodak i2000 Series Scanners also feature Kodak's Smart Touch Scanning feature that allows all users—even occasional walkup users—to scan and send images with ease. With a touch of a button, users can pre-define up to nine scan-to operations, including scanning to PDF files, Microsoft SharePoint Servers and web email clients.
"We took the Smart Touch scanning solution up a notch on the i2600 and i2800 Scanners," said Budd Webster, Business Director, Scanners, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "These models include a graphical LCD operator control panel that enables the display of Smart Touch configuration information, document type and even scanning function reminders."
In addition to image processing and software performance enhancements, the i2000 Series Scanners feature a new, innovative exterior design that gives users a number of benefits in productivity and efficiency. Market research indicated that a number of customers move desktop scanners among multiple job site locations. Kodak designed the shell of the i2000 Series Scanners to serve as its own traveling case. With the stow-or-go design, users can return their scanners to an upright position and use the built-in handle for easy carrying. Once reaching their destination, users simply plug in power and USB cables, tilt the scanner open to begin scanning.
Kodak's product development team also provided the i2000 Series Scanners the capability to scan embossed hard cards without the need for a special accessory. All i2000 Series Scanners feature integrated, self-contained output trays which can be adjusted in seconds to accommodate multiple sizes and types of documents. The trays add to the ease of operation and keep documents exiting the scanner as neat and orderly as when they entered.
The i2000 Series Scanners feature dual LED lamps, two per camera, ready to go the moment scanning begins as the lamps require no warm-up time. LED illumination also improves image clarity, consistency and color stability. Kodak internal tests show that LED illumination yields higher OCR read rates over conventional lamp systems for increased accuracy in data extraction. The new reinforced ribbed paper path handles all kinds of documents with ease—from onionskin to embossed hard cards.
"The Kodak i2000 Series Scanners redefine desktop scanning by providing a number of critical technology innovations designed to make information capture easy, direct and accurate for business process applications and workflows," Barbeau said.
Pricing in the United States and Canada (US&C) is $845 for the i2400, $1,195 for the i2600 and $1,895 for the i2800.
